Pinterest…are you pinning yet?

Have you heard of Pinterest? I recently got my invite and started creating my own pin boards and it’s so much fun. I love getting inspiration from all sorts of places and pinterest allows you to keep all that inspiration organized and share with others. You can browse other people’s pinboards and then “re-pin” them to yours.

Want to know more? Here are some basics:

How do I get an account?

Right now the site is invite-only (kind of like how Ravelry was when it first started). But there are two ways to get an invite. You can either submit a request through the site or get an invite from someone who already has an account. So if you want one just send me an email and I’ll send you an invite!

So how exactly does it work?

When you are signed into your account on pinterest you can browse through the different categories and if you see any photos you like you can “re-pin” them to your own pinboard. And you can create different pinboard categories to keep everything organized. Here is a screen shot of my account (I just started so it’s a little minimal at the moment!)

Also, you can install a “Pin It” button on your browser’s bookmark bar so you can pin anything that you see on the web. And it grabs the source link so the original creator can be credited. The Pinterest site provides directions on how to do this.
