I love wearing layers…and I love alpaca. What do you get when you combine those two things together? Slouchy, cozy armwarmers that I call my East End Armwarmers (pattern now available!)
Sometimes alpaca can be a bit too warm to wear as a sweater, but as armwarmers they provide just the right amount of warmth and softness. I knit these up using Shibui’s Baby Alpaca DK-if you haven’t knit with this yarn yet I’d definitely recommend it. It’s beautiful, super soft, and 1 skein has 255 yards (so you only need 1 skein for this pattern). If you live in the Portland, Maine area, KnitWit carries this yarn and in lots of great colors for autumn.
If baby alpaca isn’t your thing though, any DK-weight yarn will work. But for that “slouchy” look and feel I’d recommend using a soft and drapey yarn (cashmere or silk blends would be perfect!).
The pattern itself is quite simple and is completely seamless. The arm cuff has a little cable and rib detail and the thumb opening keeps all of your fingers available for texting, typing or knitting. Back when I worked in an office that was always freezing these would have definitely come in handy!

Oh, I absolutely love these wrist/arm warmers. In the winter, I’m never without gloves but I don’t always like having my fingers covered up so I already decided that I will be knitting several wrist warmers this year. I’ll be sure to check out this pattern! And, by the way, I’m knitting your adorable Coffee Bean baby cardigan and love the pattern! : )
Thanks Evelyn! So glad you are enjoying the Coffee Bean cardi too!
