Pattern Instructions:
- Using US 9 16” circular needles and color A, CO 52 sts, pm, join for working in the rnd. Work in 2×2 Rib (in the rnd) until measures 1.25”.
- Switch to US 10 16” circular needles. Starting with color A and switching colors every other row, work in St st (in the round) until measures 4.5” from CO edge.
- Divide Rnd: BO next 4 sts, k 17 sts, BO next 8 sts, k to marker. Remove marker, turn work (so you’ll now be working back and forth, not in the round), BO 4 sts, p to end.
Now you will just be working one side of the sweater (the belly side):
- Rw 1: K1, ssk, k to 3 sts before end, k2tog, k1. Rw 2: p to end. Repeat rws 1 & 2: 1 more time
- Next rw: K1, ssk, k to 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Then work in St st until measures 4” from divide. BO all sts
Back side:
- With US 10 needles join yarn on a WS row, p to end.
- Rw 1: K1, ssk, k to 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Rw 2: p to end. Repeat rws 1 & 2: 1 more time
- Next rw: K1, ssk, k to 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Then work in St st until measures 4” from divide. BO all sts
Arm Ribbing:
- Join color A on RS rw at neck edge with US 9 needles. Pick up and k 38 sts (which works out to around 2 sts for every 3 rws)
- Starting on a WS rw and working back and forth, work in 2×2 Rib (flat) until measures 1.25”. BO in pattern.
- Repeat above instructions for other side
Final Finishing:
- Seam up shoulders just at ribbing area (so that you leave enough room for the neck)
